Last week, Francisco Quintero, our Emerging Tech Library Specialist, and I had a short test session with Alexa in the classroom. He was demonstrating to me how he as set up Alexa to run our test classroom in the library, and I was sharing with him some ideas on how Alexa can connect to Google through the browser help skill. Anyways, long story short, in just a few minutes we had Alexa set up as a classroom assistant. And using a Circles page as a presentation page, I could easily guide content through voice commands. We are just getting started with this technology, but there are lots of possibilities. In fact, I am currently looking at a way to make our own classroom assistants using Alexa and the Raspberry Pi, we will likely be working on that in the Valencia Tech Club in the upcoming months. We will let you know how it goes. For now, here is a short video of the kinds of things we were doing last Friday.
